Saint Martin's stone

Saint Martin's stones can be found not only in the Pilat but also in Forez and in some other places in France. This large rock of 15 by 8 metres is to be found half way up o the Northwest side of the Chaussitre Mountain surrounded by heather. At a first glance, it's nothing extraordinary but a more detailed examination reveals several hoofprints believed to have been left by Saint Martin's horse as it crossed the rock. At the beginning of the Middle Ages this rock thus became known as the Saint Martin's rock.
